William Fox's Poetry Wins Him Willard Battery Contest

The Willard Limerick contest, conducted by the Ruffe Battery company in conjunction with station WOOD was won by William Fox, clerk at the Morton hotel. The contest proved one of the most popular stunts ever staged through station WOOD and several hundred limericks were received at the studio.

Mr. Fox was presented with a battery by Mr. Ruffe as the contest winner. Others whose limericks gave them honorable mention were Wayne S. Coo, 338 Lagrave ave, SE; Mrs. Charles Keenders, 911 Front ave. NW; Rowenda Beens , 1906 Horton ave. SE and Mrs. Lee Feutz, 2115 Den Herder ave.

Mr. Fox's Limerick follows:

They said our set was the berries
But all we got was canaries,
Putting Willard to use
Now we have juice
And get everything the air carries
