PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Special Collections Librarian and University Archivist, Patricia W. and J. Douglas Perry Library, Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia, 2007 to present.
Responsibilities include collection development, acquisition, preservation and organization of collections; supervision and management of unit staff, interns and volunteers; cultivation of donor relations, archival management, and intellectual access to the collections. Founder and co-chair of Old Dominion University Libraries' Desegregation Of Virginia Education (DOVE) Project, a state wide guide to resources that document the school desegregation process in Virginia.

Reference Archivist, McCormick - International Harvester Collection, Wisconsin Historical Society, Madison, Wisconsin, 2005 to 2007.
Provided off-site reference for a diverse clientele from tractor collectors to international academics for a collection consisting of approximately 4000 cubic feet of personal papers and corporate records. Wrote outreach articles about the collection for publication in academic and hobbyist magazines. Selected and cataloged significant photographic images from collection for commercial online sales on the Society's web page. Appraised, processed and wrote finding aids and catalog records for collections. Initiated project to convert legacy finding aids to EAD format. Wrote Visual Basic programs to convert Microsoft Word finding aids in nested, hierarchical format into keyword searchable Access database for internal use. Created plan to expand Web site adding digital content, EAD finding aids, user accessibility to collection catalog and collaborative web space.

Consultant, Special Collections Research Center, Earl Gregg Swem Library, College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia, January 2007.

Provided consultation on a variety of in-house digitization and computer projects including streamlining the EAD workflow, creating an image management protocol and scanning, developed a plan to digitize 500,000 catalog cards.

Archives and Manuscript Practicum Student, University of Wisconsin – Madison, Spring 2006, 160 hours.

Appraised, accessioned, and fully processed the papers of Nachtwey-Fitzmaurice-Trackett family papers, 1725-1993, a collection totaling 6.2 cubic feet. Wrote appraisal report, accession record, and finding aid that will be used by Wisconsin Historical Society staff and researchers. Initiated procedure to publish family tree extracted from records in collection on Rootsweb.com web site to promote WHS resources to internet genealogical community.

President, Anlex Computer Consulting LLC, 1985 to present.

Develop repository management policies. Conduct functional needs analysis, recommend appropriate hardware and software. Design and develop databases and data driven Web sites for corporations, nonprofit agencies and educational institutions across the United States.
